  • :: How we work with you ::

  • How can you work for me?

We work either on a project basis or on hourly basis.
Some missions require only one consultant working at your premises, or remotely if our expert lives abroad.
Some companies don't want consultants at their premises. In this case we will have regular meetings.
Some companies require all the consultants to be at their premises. We will accommodate that.

I do want your consultants to be on site from 9am to 5pm

The Client is the king. We're fine with this.

    Where are your employees physically?

We have people is California, Europe and Japan.

    Who will I talk to?

You will always have one single throat to choke.
Depending on the physical location of your company and our expert employee, our expert will work at your premises.
If not possible, we will have regular meetings to check on the status of the project.

How many people will work on my project?

Typically for a one-consultant project, some other consultants from Bottomless can help out. This happens a lot when a project involves different skills, and either no consultant has all the skills required, or the workload becomes too much for one.
For legal reasons, some companies require only a specific consultant to work on their project, and we can accommodate with that.

Will I be charged when other Bottomless consultants help out on my project?

Most of the time no, unless the workload becomes too heavy compared to initially planned, or if your deadlines changed.
Unless prohibited by the client for legal reasons (or by simple preference), we can offload some work at our discretion to other Bottomless consultants.
It often helps your project move faster, especially multi-disciplinary projects.
Even in this case, you keep the main Bottomless consultant as a single point of entry. He is responsible for what the other Bottomless consultants are doing.

Will you offload our project to other consulting companies?

    No.
  • :: How we operate ::

  • Why don't you rent an office space?

    Several reasons: cost, management, green.
Cost because owning an office in the Silicon Valley is costly. And the savings are passed on to our clients.
Management because most of our team is working directly on site at the client's premises, or telecommuting.
Green because having an office space often leads to abuses (think printer room for the trees, coffee machines for your health)
We believe more businesses should move to an officeless activity when appropriate.
This would reduce commute time for employees, so they are happier.
It also means less idle time for our employees, which benefits the company directly.
At the same time it reduces gas emissions, so we're eco-friendly.
Another important point is the freedom it provides. People are not created equal: some are night owls while others are early birds.
Consulting and software firms are good candidates for this type of initiatives as employees are either working at the client's premises, or doing paperworks that can be done anywhere provided you have a computer with Internet access

How do you manage to run a business without an office space?

It's business X.0 (X being equal to 2 these days, replace with 3 when you feel like)
We need to adapt quick and an office space is not an answer in the digital world.
However there are some hurdles that could be solved with new revenue generating services.
Here are two of them that would simplify the life of businesses trying to move to an officeless model:
    • Fax to cellphone: use a regular cell phone to receive faxes in your email inbox.
    • If you are a Telco and don't offer this service yet, we can help, just let us know :-)
    • Virtual postal address: buy an official virtual address from USPS that you could redirect to your home, and easily and quickly redirect to another place.

How do you make sure employees working remotely do actually work?

In a classical office, how do you make sure your employees, present from 9am to 5pm, are actually really working and not browsing the Net?
It's not about how many hours you put, but about what you put in the hours.
Give freedom to your employees, they will use it wisely.
We do know when somebody is not working: the job is simply not getting done.
